Countries with Tough Visa Applications

Getting a permit to enter or visa to other countries can be a breeze, although in some cases it depends on your country of origin. However, there are some countries where getting a visa is complicated no matter the color of your passport. This is why most people prefer to engage the services of immigration and visa consultancy companies such as Global Visas which know the ins and outs of the visa application process of most countries. Before you give in to the lure of cheap accommodations or decide that travel to exotic places is just the right move for you at this particular juncture, find out first what you’re getting, or not getting, into.

The visa application process differs from country to country. In some, such as Angola and Russia, th process requires a multitude of documents, such as medical tests, letters of invitation, financial sureties, educational background, or employment history. Small mistakes in the application form can mean a rejection, and in the case of Angola, approval takes a long time.

Cuba is off-limits to most Americans, especially if the passport is stamped by a Cuban Embassy. Most Americans may also be denied entry into North Korea, which doesn’t even have an embassy in the US. Getting a visa for Saudi Arabia is not difficult, but chances are if you don’t know what you are doing you are applying for the wrong kind. They have very specific visas for different types of visitors, and women especially will be subject to close scrutiny.

Iran has no embassies of its own, so visa applications are handled by other countries such as Pakistan in the US and Switzerland in Tehran. To get a visa, you must have an Iranian sponsor, and if you are not careful, you could end up in prison for any number of violations. The case for Brazil is that their visa application process can change from day to day, and there is no fixed timetable  and if you are smiling in your passport photo, you can kiss your chances of approval goodbye.

It is expensive to enter China; the visa costs $140 for a single entry if you apply yourself. Additional fees apply if you send a representative, but they do process quickly.  However, if your medical history indicates you have suffered from a contagious or mental disease, you will probably be denied a visa.
The US and the UK are very difficult you get a visa for because they have strict security measures in place. Even if you do get a visa, you may still be turned away if they find any reason to suspect you are not what you represent yourself to be, especially in post 9/11 US.  Students are particularly given a hard time; in the UK, foreign students must have employment waiting for him or her at the end of their studies coming with a government-registered employer.

If you like to travel to other countries, getting a visa is a crucial step in the process. Most people do not have extensive experience in applying for visas, so doing it yourself is probably not going to end well for you. At the very least, you will have wasted your time and money, at the worst you could be turned away at the airport or detained.  If you are considering taking the plunge, consult with professional visa assistance companies like Global Visas and avoid headaches and problems when you travel.

Global Visas has won for its clients the most difficult battles as far as visa facilitation is concerned, such as immigration to Australia. The expertise of the Global Visas team allows it to deliver the best quality service in the lodgment of spousal, fiancée, tourist and working visas. The company holds the distinct advantage of having personnel in destination countries as well as constant updating of visa regulations in these areas: the USA, Canada, UK and other parts of Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Asian territories. The final regional selection camp for Jr. NBA Philippines 2013 presented by Alaska will be held at the Aquinas Gym in San Juan City today, April 13 starting at 9 a.m.

This is the last chance for 10-14 year old players in the NCR and other provinces to participate in the National Basketball Association’s international grassroots basketball program that has been touring different cities since January this year. The learn-and-achieve camp has been hailed across the country by coaches, parents and students for imparting NBA-style skills tests, basketball drills and the S.T.A.R. values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude and Respect. Camp action starts at 9 a.m. on April 13 and ends April 14.

The program remains completely free in all its stages for local coaches and young Filipino players who want to join the program.

The first day of the RSC is devoted to vitals tests, skills challenges, drills and the selection of the Top 40 performers at the end of the day. The second day involves only the selected Top 40 and consists of more intense drills, conditioning exercises and scrimmages. The young players who will represent the NCR in the National Training Camp which will be held in Manila on April 26 to 28 will be chosen on the afternoon of Day 2 (April 14).

Jr. NBA coaches led by Coach Sefu Bernard, Senior Director of Basketball Operations, NBA Asia and local Jr. NBA coaches led by PBA Legend Jojo Lastimosa will evaluate the players based on their vitals tests, skills stations scores and how they exemplify the STAR values.

As many as 19 players may be chosen in Manila to join the National Training Camp and get the chance to be selected as members of the Jr. NBA 2013 All Star Team. The National Training Camp will have 50 participants in all made up of the 6 chosen in Dagupan, the 10 in Davao, the 5 in Lucena, the 10 from the Alaska Power Camp and the 19 in Manila.

The National Training Camp will be an intense three-day boot camp that will be held at the UP Diliman Gym on April 26 and 27 and the SM Mall of Asia on April 28.

A special highlight of the National Training Camp on April 28 besides the announcement of Jr. NBA Philippines All Stars of 2013 is an exhibition game among past Jr. NBA All Stars from 2007 to 2012.

NBA Legend Muggsy Bogues will arrive in Manila for the National Training Camp and will coach Team Muggsy, while PBA Legend Jojo Lastimosa will coach the other alumni team called Team Jojo.

The ten Jr. NBA Philippines All Stars of 2013 will be rewarded with an authentic NBA experience later in the year and the chance to play against a counterpart Jr. NBA team abroad. The Jr. NBA Coach of the Year presented by Alaska will also be announced at the National Training Camp.

Registration for the Regional Selection Camp can be made online on the Jr. NBA website www.jrnbaphilippines.com.ph or on site at 8 a.m., before the start of the selection camps.

Electrolux Partnered With The Orange Project for Mobile Kusina

Electrolux, leading makers of kitchen appliances, has teamed up with The Orange Project to address the educational and nutritional needs of underprivileged children.

Electrolux Marketing Manager Andrea Pionilla recently signed an agreement with The Orange Project Executive Director AC Ong to provide a 20-foot food truck to serve 800 poor families in Angono, Rizal.  The truck will be equipped with a full Electrolux kitchen to deliver meals to children under The Orange Project’s “Mobile Kusina” project.

“Advocacy is an integral part of the work of Electrolux.  We wanted to do something in a sustainable way; we didn’t want one-shot activities.  It was initially difficult to find a partnerthat was the correct fit to what Electrolux stands for.  This partnership is a real love story,” enthused Andrea Pionilla.

“The Mobile Kusina is a meals-on-wheels project that complements our “Kids Central Park” initiative, which addresses the educational and developmental needs of children in the poorest communities.  We are very proud to partner with Electrolux to serve children and families in a holistic way,” AC Ong said.

Through the Mobile Kusina, children will be fed nutritious meals for only P25.  An in-house chef will prepare food in accordance with a meal guide developed with the help of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI).  The Orange Project relies on individual and corporate donations to sustain their programs.

Angono was chosen as the flagship site because it was identified by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as having a significant population living in extreme poverty.  The town is also vulnerable to typhoon-related disaster.  “When flooding occurs in Angono, we also provide immediate relief to families.  The Electrolux food truck will definitely be a valuable asset in times of emergency.  Beyond that, we hold medical missions, as well as livelihood and disaster preparedness training so that the families of the children are supported in all aspects of childcare,” AC Ong added.

The Orange Project is a non-profit foundation that seeks to address the long-term and short-term needs of hungry, needy and hurting Filipino children.  Moblie Kusina aims to reach one million of the poorest children in the next few years through a program of targeted nationwide expansion, which Electrolux will continue to support.

Thank you everyone for joining my Valentine's contest.

And the winner is :

Julius B. Romero
My most memorable valentine experienced is when i was in Batad Banaue. The girl that I dreamed was with me and I assisted her while she was having an hard time with her asthma. And this happened when we were doing mountain trek. I was able to give my back for her to be relaxed. Even though I was climbing Batad stairs I demonstrate my strength for her not to worry. I sweat big time while climbing. She feel better when I carrying her at my back. I think it was 1 point for me as pogi point. After that Batad 3 months she became my Girl and I called her Miel which means Sweetheart. By the way Miel is a spanish term.
